My

My focus is the backend: I build services and tools that are meant to run reliably for years – lean, readable and with as few dependencies as possible. The bars on the right are my honest self-assessment; the info icons tell you more.

Languages

Go is my main language today: for backends, APIs, command-line tools and applications shipped as a single binary – like LCM or the DNS-Editor. JavaScript has been with me since 2011, first in the browser, and from 2017 on the server with Node.js; new user interfaces I write in TypeScript. Java comes from my Intrexx years, when I built libraries and extensions for the platform and for Spring Boot.

  • Readable code

Short functions, clear names – code is read more often than written.

  • Performance

Fast responses and lean pages are part of the design from day one.

  • Pragmatic

The simplest solution that holds up – not the newest one that impresses.

Agentless management for entire Linux fleets: a single Go binary drives any number of servers over SSH – packages, updates, configuration and monitoring from one interface, with nothing to install on the target systems. The Community Edition is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

The Reader

A read-aloud app for your own texts: Markdown, HTML, Word or plain text is stripped of navigation and ad clutter, split into sections and spoken via Google Cloud text-to-speech. Generated audio stays in the browser cache, which saves cost on repeat listening. A Chrome extension reads selected text on any page.

Dorfbrett.de

The digital notice board for small municipalities: events, drills, official announcements and dates where younger residents actually see them. A static reading site built with Astro, kept separate from the editorial app in Go and Lit that republishes it on every change – so reading stays available even when the editing side is down.
